Charles
Rennie Mackintosh ,
architect, designer and painter was born in
Glasgow, Scotland and designed
some of the best Art Nouveau buildings and furniture in Britain.
He won a design competition for his design for the Glasgow School
of Art - light filled, it featured tall windows, soft colors and
elegant proportions.
He worked in close collaboration with his wife Margaret Mackintosh
becoming a leader of the "Glasgow Style", a movement related to Art Nouveau.
His designs included detailed interiors, textiles, furniture and metalwork and
was exhibited at the Vienna Secession exhibition in 1900.
