Morris Louis
1912-1962
Born in Baltimore Maryland he studied at Maryland Institute of Art, and worked on WPA Federal Art Project in the late 1930's. His painting style was influenced by Jelen Frankenthaler and he established the use of thin washes of poured acrylic paints on unsized canvas in his work.
