Rene Magritte
1898-1967
"A truly poetic canvas is an awakened dream."
Letter 1960

Magritte was the co-founder of the Belgian Surrealist movement, and except for brief periods of experimentation the style of his paintings remained true to his Surrealist beginnings.
His painting style is highly polished with recurring motifs.
