Pierre Bonnard

French painter Pierre Bonnard studied in Paris where he became involved with the Nabis group, a group which developed from Paul Gauguin's Pont-Aven school. Another influence was the painting of Matisse and led Bonnard to explore the decorative effects of color and eventually his depiction of light.
